Dr. Maureen Reustle, adjunct professor for Kean University and Ocean County College, teaches Irish History, Multicultural Learners in a Diverse Setting. Maureen's special interest in Irish Studies led to a doctoral dissertation "Hatred to Hope: Murals of Northern Ireland and the Peace Process" completed at Drew University. She conducted primary research interviewing artists, political and community leaders in Belfast and Derry and has traveled extensively throughout the island of Ireland. Prof. Vijay Ramdeen, college lecturer for Ocean County College, teaches introductory chemistry, general chemistry and organic chemistry. Vijay completed his masters in chemistry at the University of Virginia. His graduate research involved developing organometallic catalysts to convert methane to methanol as an alternative energy source. His research also included work on catalysts that had potential to condense multi-step chemical synthesis, especially relevant to the pharmaceutical industry, to one step or a few steps. Vijay completed his bachelors in chemistry at Lafayette College, where he had the opportunity to complete a study abroad course in Australia and New Zealand on environmental science. Vijay understands how valuable the study abroad experience is to a student, that he has become involved with OCC’s study abroad program to encourage and involve students to explore global culture and diversity.
